John Cooper School

Members of the Habitat Steering Committee for The John Cooper School’s “House That John Built XI” will raise funds for the project at a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the XPress Lube in Alden Bridge Shopping Center in The Woodlands. The Habitat home is under construction at the work site in Conroe and is the 11th consecutive Habitat home built by the Cooper community in conjunction with Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity.

For more information, log on to www.johncooper.org.

The John Cooper School will host Texas Tee Time, the school’s 22nd annual Golf Tournament, Oct. 23. The tournament will be at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club on Champions Forest Drive in Spring for the third consecutive year. Activities begin with registration and lunch at 11 a.m., followed by golfing that will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A dinner, raffle drawing, live auction and awards will kick off at 5:30 p.m. The individual tournament entry fee, with dinner, is $300, and tickets to the evening events are $40.

Raffle tickets are $100 each, or six for $500, and only 500 tickets will be sold.

For more information about registration and sponsorship opportunities, contact Cooper’s Development Office at (281) 367-0900, ext. 441, or development@johncooper.org.

John Grogan will be the featured author at The John Cooper School’s fifth annual Signatures Author Series luncheon Nov. 11 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. Grogan, author of “Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog,” a No. 1 national bestseller that was made into a major motion picture, is a former “Philadelphia Inquirer” newspaper columnist and the author of two best-selling books.

The luncheon also will feature local writers, book signings and a silent auction of a chair signed by Grogan. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to a local organization. Last year’s sellout luncheon, featuring Anthony Bourdain, resulted in a donation of $5,000 to the Montgomery County Memorial Library System.

Each year, a portion of the proceeds from the event is given to a literary organization. This year’s beneficiary is Montgomery Pet Partners’ READ Program that works with students by offering them a chance to read to therapy dogs to improve their reading skills.

Reservation and sponsorship information for the Signatures luncheon is available online by going to www.johncooper.org.

The continued success of this event is made possible by sponsorships at varying levels, ranging from $75 for individual seats to table sponsorships at varying levels.

For information, call Cooper’s Development office at (281) 367-0900, ext. 441.

The John Cooper School Performing Arts Department will present “The Secret Garden” at 7 p.m. Nov. 12-14 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and 15.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. To purchase tickets, visit www.seatyourself.biz/johncooper.

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School’s ninth annual Golf Tournament and Dinner/Dance “Disco and Diamonds” will be Oct. 23 at Woodforest Country Club, located at 6201 Mulligan Drive off of Honea Egypt Road in Montgomery. There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The festivities will continue into the evening at La Tranquila Ranch, located at 9418 FM 2920 in Tomball. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Included in the entertainment is the drawing for a diamond raffle donated by Shaftell Diamond Co.

St. Anthony does not receive funding from the state and must raise money to bring the tuition rate to an affordable rate for families. As it is now, tuition only covers a portion of the costs of running the school.

The night at La Tranquila Ranch features dining, compliments of Lupe Tortilla, and entertainment by “Little Queen,” a popular disco band. A single-player registration is $250, which includes dinner. To attend only the dinner, it is $75 per person.

There are many other opportunities to sponsor the event that range from $75 for a clergy dinner sponsor to the Silver, Gold and Platinum levels at $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000, respectively.

For more information, call the school’s development office at (298) 296-0300.
