KISD Board election set for Nov. 3

Updated: 07.21.09
The Klein Independent School District Board of Trustees have voted to hold an election to fill board positions 3, 4 and 5 held by Secretary Jim Smith, board member Steve Szymczak and Vice President Nancy Radcliffe, respectively.

The election will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009.

Radcliffe, who has already served two consecutive terms on the KISD board, stated during the trustee meeting July 14 that she would not be running for re-election.

She later said her decision was due to work and personal commitments, but said she has been honored to serve as a member of the Board for the past six years.

“I will forever be grateful to the Klein community for giving me this opportunity and encourage others to run for election who wish to make a positive contribution to the future of our students,” Radcliffe said.

Those interested in having their names on the ballot can get information and application forms from Beverly McGlasson in the office of the KISD superintendent, beginning at 8 a.m. Aug. 3. They have until 5 p.m. Sept. 3 to apply for the positions.

The Board of Trustees or representative will determine the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the ballots at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 in the central office board room.

The KISD Board of Trustees will hold a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Klein High School.

The election will be held at Harris County precinct locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 3. Early voting runs from October 19 through October 30.

For more information, contact Beverly McGlasson at 832-249-4171.
