Elvis tribute artist Nathan Belt performs in Conroe

The Crighton Theater in Conroe will be rocking as Elvis impersonator Nathan Belt and friends will be taking the stage July 12 to raise money for FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center in Humble.
The show titled “Elvis and Legends” will feature Belt along with several other tribute artists.
Belt, who has been performing since he was 13 years old, grew up listening to Elvis’ music and was introduced to his music by playing his dad’s 45 of “Blue Suede Shoes” on his Fisher Price record player.
He has been performing as an Elvis tribute artist since 1999 but it was not until 2006 when he became more serious about performing and perfected every detail of Elvis from his facial expressions to speech and his vocals.
Belt is also a 2009 finalist of the prestigious Ultimate Elvis Tribute Contest.
Kingwood resident Steve Fountain is instrumental in bringing Belt to the area as this is the third Elvis tribute artist he has worked with.
“I kept hearing a lot about Belt and he has a very large fan base. Once I saw him perform, I was very impressed and started to work with him to put on shows,” Fountain said.
“The first time I saw an Elvis tribute artist along with other tribute artists including one for Roy Orbison, was at the Sands on Westheimer; I was so impressed. After watching this show, I got the idea to start to put together and promote my own shows.”
Fountain grew up being an Elvis fan and enjoys putting shows like this together to entertain audiences and give them a chance to step back in time.
With the most recent concert in Conroe July 12, Fountain wanted to help collect items for a local nonprofit organization so he decided on FamilyTime.
All of the proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will benefit FamilyTime. Any concert guest who brings an item to donate to FamilyTime will automatically be entered in to the raffle.
The raffle will contain Elvis memorabilia items and other Elvis items for the ultimate fan.
“At this time of year, all of our supplies are dwindling and especially with the economic hardship,” Judy Cox, executive director for FamilyTime, said. “We are always in need of donations and any kind of donation will help us because times are tough right now.”
FamilyTime is requesting any kind of canned goods; paper products such as diapers, paper towels, toilet paper; gift cards to gas stations and grocery stores; and pretty much anything to help them out.
FamilyTime provides an outreach program and accessible services to families and individuals in crisis through counseling, crisis intervention, information and referral, and shelter.
“We have a wish list which can be viewed on our website,” Cox said. “We were very surprised when Fountain contacted us about the fundraiser and we are very appreciative.”
This will be Belt’s 20th concert in Texas and with all of the sound, lights and action, the concert will be fun for the whole family.
“At a few of our concerts, we will have a group of guys with older model cars who will park them in front of the theater, which is really neat,” Fountain said. “We all do it for the fun and it is like a walk down memory lane. It will be a great afternoon of music.”
