Two organizations team up to help parents get a little peace of mind.

Red Robin Restaurants and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are working together to help parents take the necessary steps to protect their children.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 797, 500 children were reported missing in a one year; making an average of 2,185 children reported missing every day. Approximately 450,000 children run away every year.

From July 13 — 19, all Houston-area Red Robin restaurants will give away a free Child ID Kits to families with the purchase of a kids’ menu item.

The ID Kit contains room to include a child’s personal information, such as their physical characteristics, name, date of birth, fingerprints, sex, address and a photograph.

NCMEC strongly encourages families to update photographs of their children every six months.

Child ID Kits are a great resource for parents to help officials locate missing children in unprecedented situations.

“You want your child’s fingerprints on file,” said office Jeff Reese, FBI certified fingerprint specialist and parent. “Having a current photo of your child and their fingerprints on file is crucial to helping to identify a lost or missing child. These kits make identification in a recovery easier.”

NCMEC reported that it assisted law enforcement with more that 154,000 missing child cases, resulting in the recovery of more than 138,000.

In addition, all participating U.S. Red Robin restaurants will donate 50 cents of every kids’ meal ordered during the event to support NCMEC’s child safety initiatives.

Red Robin in collaboration with the NCMEC is urging parents and guardians to make child safety a priority.
