Spring — ORWALL National avoided elimination from the District 28 Little League Tournament, defeating Tomball 12-8 in an elimination game at ORWALL Thursday night.

Despite giving up a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning, the Oak Ridge Woodlands Area Little League National All-Stars were able to move to the tournament final with strong batting.

“We had a big first inning, but when we gave up that grand slam and the lead, we could have gave up,” National manager John Morris said. “Instead, we kept fighting.”

ORWALL’s Travis Howard started the game on the mound and got the win, pitching 2 2/3 innings. He allowed only one run and had two strikeouts.

Leading the offensive attack for National was Andrew Bourque, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

Chandler Morris added a two-run homer in the fourth.

ORWALL National, 3-1 in the tournament, faces undefeated ORWALL American on Monday at 7 p.m. in the final.

Since the tournament is double elimination, National would need to win Monday and again on Tuesday to take the District 28 crown.

American defeated National 5-3 Wednesday night.

“ORWALL American is a great team, but we have our top two pitchers ready to go,” said Morris. “I’m feeling pretty good about our chances.”
