Crystal Awards Gala raises record funds for SBEF

The 2009 Crystal Awards Gala raised $129,917, the highest in the event’s 16-year history, according to Wendy and Ben Moreland, gala co-chairs.
In announcing the event’s success, the Morelands hand the reins to Marissa and Duncan Klussmann, who have graciously accepted the role as co-chairs of the 2010 Crystal Awards Gala. Duncan Klussmann is SBISD superintendent of schools.
The March 2009 evening recognized six Crystal Award winners chosen from more than 1,000 nominations throughout eight Gulf Coast counties: Mark Plunkett, Cornerstone Academy, SBISD; Cindy Gause, Holy Trinity Episcopal School; Susan Leining, Santa Fe High School, Santa Fe ISD; Kasey Mathew, Benignus Elementary School, Klein ISD; Christie McWilliams, Cy-Fair High School, Cy-Fair ISD; and David Vialard, River Oaks Elementary School, Houston ISD.
