Two Tomball High School seniors receive scholarships

Tomball High School students Joanna Davis and Jenny Sung each received a scholarship from the Cypress Woodlands Junior Forum.

The Tomball seniors were among 34 who received the 2009 CWJF Founding Members Scholarships at a reception given in their honor on April 22 at Bammel Church of Christ.

Davis, Sung and the other area high school student recipients were selected following submission of an application and through an interview process. The scholarship criterion is primarily based upon community service performed by the students, followed by academic success and financial need.

CWJF’s scholarship program has grown from one scholarship awarded in 1989 to this year’s total of 34 scholarships given to deserving recipients. To date, CWJF has awarded more than $450,000.00 to students in the communities of northwest Houston and south Montgomery County. The scholarships are funded through business partnerships, individual contributions given by member and friends of CWJF as well as endowments from various families and organizations.
