Special Olympics basketball players win medals
Thirteen Cy-Fair ISD students received individual skills medals and four teams placed in the Special Olympics basketball tournaments, held earlier this month at various CFISD campuses.
The following students received individual skills medals:
• Gold Medals
o Jalen Babineaux, Duryea Elementary School; Madelyn Wartell, Keith Elementary School; Derek Hanham, Campbell Middle School; Crystal Josh, Cy-Fair High School; Jonathan James, Cy Falls High School; and Kristina Richey, Cy Springs High School.
• Silver Medals
o Kyle Naumann and Nicole Rasmussen, Copeland Elementary School.
• Bronze Medals
o Pilar Ortiz, Keith Elementary School; Julian Crawford, Aragon Middle School; Elyss Augustine, Spillane Middle School; William Gray, Jersey Village High School; and Taqui Syed, Langham Creek High School.
In the team competition, the Cy-Fair Tigers 1 won a silver medal. The team members are Carson Berg, Arnold Middle School; Caitlin Ripley, Bleyl Middle School; Jacob Dean, Thornton Middle School; Tyler Cravens, Cy Creek High School; and Marcus Milton. The coaches are Raul Valdez and Thomas Ripley.
The Cy-Fair Tigers 2 won a silver medal. The team members are Taylor Rhule, Holmsley Elementary School; Emilio Camarillo, Bleyl Middle School; and Patrick Bernard, Dean Middle School. The coach is Vaughn Anderson.
The Cy-Fair Wildcats won a silver medal. The team members are Michael Mischon, Gleason Elementary School; Jasmine Guillory, Aragon Middle School; Tamara Hagan, Cook Middle School; Christian Cuevas, Cy-Fair High School; Bobby Verdiguel, Cy Falls High School; Sean Davis, Zachary Hatcher, Jill Philipbar and Christopher Santana, Cy Ridge High School; and Lauren Perry, Cy Woods High School. The coaches are Zach Freed and Karen Tannehill.
The Hot Shots placed fourth. The team members are Levi Flick, Labay Middle School; James Harris, Watkins Middle School; Ryan Bradford, Michael Dore and Robert Dunn, Cy Falls High School; Gabriel Santiago, Cy Springs High School; Michael Mosley, Jersey Village High School; and Alex Sizemore and Darrion Wilburn, Langham Creek High School. The coach is Danny McKay.
