A man wanted for violating his parole was arrested by police after being interrupted by an employee while he was burglarizing a Spring community clubhouse on Christmas day.

On Dec. 25, at approximately 4:45 p.m., deputies of the Precinct 4 Constable’s office responded to a burglary of a business where a pool maintanance employee who was picking up some paper during the holiday had entered the Lexington Woods clubhouse office in the 1900 block of Bellchase Drive only to surprise a would-be burglar.

According to police records, the surprised burglar attempted to conceal himself from the employee and was forced to jump from a second-story window where the employee’s husband, who was waiting in his car, saw a white male running from the clubhouse property toward Aldine Westfield where the witness stated he then disappeared.

“The employee’s husband who had witnessed this male adult dressed in a white sweatshirt and shorts running by his parked car, initially did not know what was happening until his wife came downstairs,” stated Precinct 4 Lt. David Escobar.

According to Escobar, one of the constable units who was responding to assist Deputy J. Maxwell spotted a male on foot fitting the suspect description on Aldine Westfield, about half a mile north from the original scene when deputies advised that the male began to run into a heavily wooded area adjacent to a large trailer park area.

Numerous constable units saturated the area, setting a large perimeter area along Aldine Westfield, East Louetta, Hardy Road and Windemere Isle in the Old Town Spring area.

“Once we felt confident we had the suspect contained inside our perimeter area our K-9 Officer G. Thomason and his canine partner Ricco, who were originally scheduled off for Christmas, were called out to help in the man hunt,” said Sgt. Wayne Schultz. Accoring to police, about two and a half hours later the Precinct 4 K-9 unit was able to track down 36-year-old Spring resident Billy Wayne Ellis Jr. as he was hiding underneath a mobile home that did not belong to him in the 20700 block of First Street.

Ellis was arrested and charged with felony burglary and evading arrest. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Ellis was also wanted on a parole violation for a previous burglary charge.

Ellis, who was still wearing the same clothing as described by the witness, was booked into the Harris County Jail without bond.
