The cars and pickups lined the west end of Mulberry St. in the Oakwood subdivision Sunday afternoon as family, friends, coaches and well-wishers stopped in to give the home team quarterback a sendoff. Cody Green will fly to Nebraska on Wednesday, Jan. 7 to begin his life as a collegian.
The Green’s home was decorated with an inflatable Lil’ Red Nebraska mascot standing tall in the front yard. Various red and white balloons adorned the inside of the home along with some photos on the mantle depicting football and family.
The entire Bronco football coaching staff, coming and going, were there, as were most all the coaches who had coached Cody – from baseball to basketball, and of course, football. A plethora of chips, dips, snacks as well as several main courses of food – fried chicken, baked chicken, and various vegetables made for a variety of dinner choices.
From the intersection of Mulberry and the cul-de-sac where about 20 kids were shooting hoops, into the driveway and front yard, through the garage and into the house and out to the back yard more than 150 people dropped by to wish Cody the best as he heads off to Nebraska.
