Sections of downtown Conroe street closed Monday afternoon for gas leak

Updated: 01.12.09
The Conroe Fire Department blocked off parts of Main Street in downtown Conroe Monday afternoon when construction crews punctured a 2-inch gas line, according to Asst. Chief Paul Sims.

The leak occurred around 2:47 p.m. at 225 N. Main St. in an outside line next to a building, Sims said. Multiple Conroe Fire Department units responded to the location, and Centerpoint Gas workers were on location to fix the leak.

After checking gas levels in surrounding buildings and determining there were no hazards, the scene was cleared around 3:12 p.m., Sims said.
