She then served as the internal auditor at Klein ISD from 1993 to 1998, before moving to the position of controller at Klein ISD in 1999. She served in that capacity for the last 10 years, supervising a staff of 26. In addition to public school finance, she has more than nine years of industry experience in internal auditing, financial reporting and budgeting.

Smith received her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Texas A&M University. She is a certified public accountant and internal auditor, and a registered Texas School Business Administrator.

“ I am honored that I was selected as the controller for CFISD,” Smith said. “I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with everyone.”
