Property tax impersonators reported in Liberty County

By ALEX WUKMAN
Updated: 01.12.09
A new year means many things in Liberty County. One thing it always means is that it's time to get ready to pay property taxes. In addition to the tax rate and the declining economy, this year has brought another worry for homeowners -- home appraiser impersonators.

Many Liberty County property owners have reported being approached by people claiming to be representatives of the Liberty County Central Appraisal District (CAD). There is currently no word on who these people are or what they want but CAD chief appraiser Allen Connor stated that homeowners need to be aware of who they let on to their property.

Connor also said that CAD representatives will have several ways to identify themselves. Some of the pieces of identification include business cards, magnetic signs on their vehicle and the fact that they are wearing a shirt or jacket with the official Liberty County CAD logo.

Connor went on to say that anyone with questions about someone claiming to be a CAD employee should call the CAD at 936-336-5722.

" You mean Liberty County has someone to realy appraise property. They sure miss a lot of Personal Property owned by companys.Could be a bonus for them if this happens.Thats why County and Schools are running out of money. "
