Collaboration inspires Rare Breed beer series

Fort Worth-based Rahr & Sons Brewing, LP has joined forces with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation to develop Rare Breed, the newest series of Rahr beers, whose sales are in part dedicated to the protection and recovery of endangered species native to Texas.
In late 2008, Rahr debuted Blind Salamander Pale Ale, the first in the Rare Breed series. The brew is an English pale ale whose name highlights a rare cave-dwelling amphibian native to the San Marcos Pool in the Edwards Aquifer.
“As a true Texas brewery, we are proud to present an opportunity for customers to enjoy our beer for a good cause,” said Tony Formby, managing partner of Rahr. “It’s fun to contribute to this great state while doing what we love – creating new beers using our traditional recipes – and we look forward to introducing our next Rare Breed beer.”
Blind Salamander is currently sold at specialty markets in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
