By OBSERVER STAFF REPORTS
Lone Star College-North Harris was recently selected as the 2008 Company of the Year by the North Houston-Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, highlighting a long and valued relationship.
“This award honors a company that has a strong commitment and support for the chamber,” said Reggie Gray, president of the chamber. “This past year, LSC-North Harris helped us develop one of the most unique partnerships, which included providing space for the chamber office at the college’s Greenspoint Center location in addition to creating the Center for Business Development, which is comprised of the chamber, Small Business Development Center, Lone Star Corporate College and LSC-North Harris. That partnership established the chamber as one the top resource service centers within southeast Texas and helped pioneer a new chamber of commerce business model for the future.”
Since the chamber was established in 1986, LSC-North Harris has been providing it support. Working with local businesses is part of the college’s commitment to the community, said Dr. Steve Head, president of LSC-North Harris.
“In addition to providing quality higher education, Lone Star College-North Harris has been active in supporting north Houston businesses and organizations since the college was first established more than 35 years ago,” Head said. “Our newest venture provides services to all businesses in the area including entrepreneurial, start-up, existing small (less than 500 employees), large (more than 500 employees) and new-to-area businesses from a central site, Lone Star College-Greenspoint Center located on the North Sam Houston Parkway.”
