Mavs banquet tickets on sale

Memorial High School’s annual football banquet will be held this Saturday night at the school and tickets are currently on sale for the event.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner in the dining hall, followed by awards presentations in the auditorium.

Tickets are $15 and they may be bought at the admissions office near the front entrance to the school or they may be bought at the door.

International plans sign-up on Saturday

International Little League, home to the 2008 Major and Minor division City Little League champions, has announced that it will hold three early registration dates for children ages 8 to 12 in its attendance zone who want to be a part of the Little League excitement this spring.

Those dates are Jan. 10, 17 and 29 and the fee is $100. All sign-up will be conducted at International Little League’s fieldhouse, located at the corner of Red Bluff Road and Southmore.

Officials will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for all the early registration dates. The cost is $100 and the buyout is $50 for the fundraiser. The fee rises to $120 starting on Jan. 31 when regular registration begins.

Deepwater Softball plans busy January sign-up period

The Deepwater Girls Softball Association will be reserving January for spring ball registration for girls age 4-16.

Every Saturday in January (10, 17, 24 and 31) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. officials will be on hand at the DGSA fields to register girls. The fields are located at 502 Parkwood (Behind Deepwater Junior High).

Pony Baseball lists five sign-up dates

The city’s Pony Baseball program, with its rich history of World Series berths over the years and one World Series record that has stood for 18 years, has announced its registration dates for the 2009 spring season.

The registration fee is $100 for any 12, 13 and 14-year-old boy interested in becoming a stronger baseball player while enjoying the popular sport.

All-sign-up will take place at Gardner Field, located behind PAL Gym.

Registration and tryouts will be held together. Those dates are Jan. 24 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Feb. 3, 5 and 7. On Feb. 3 and 5, officials will be at Gardner Field from 6-8 p.m. On Feb. 7, the time will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The league is also accepting applications for managers. Call Neel McGovern at 281-728-6628 or Richard Smith at 832-641-2657 for any additional information or for manager applications.

PGSA plans sign-up on Saturday

While announcing it has reduced its registration fees for the 2009 spring season, the Pasadena Girls Softball Association has reserved four registration dates in January for any girls desiring to play softball.

Officials will be on hand at the PGSA complex, located at 714 Fairmont for the remainder of the sign-up period.

The January sign-up dates are Jan. 10, 17, 19 and 24. The fee is $60 with a $5 sibling discount. In conjunction with registration, tryouts will be held Jan. 17 and 24.

Officials will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 10th and 17th, while the 24th will have officials on hand from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On the 19th, registration will be open from 6-8 p.m.

Online registration is currently under way. The fee is $55 for early registration and $65 for January registration.

Quest soccer plans registration

The Quest Youth Soccer Club will be holding spring registration on Jan. 17 at Dow Park, located at 709 E. Ave. P St.

Quest officials will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It’s open to youngsters age 5-18. The fee is $50 for all players and it includes a T-shirt.

Shrine Game tickets on sale

Tickets for the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game, where the top NCAA college football players display their skills while benefitting Shriners Hospitals for Children are now on sale.

To date, the East-West Shrine Game has raised millions of dollars for Shriners Hospitals for Children and has helped inform millions of people about the mission of this extraordinary philanthropy.

The game is set for Jan. 17th at the University of Houston’s Robertson Stadium with kickoff at 3 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the following websites: www.shrinegame.com, www.uhcougars.com or wwwticketmaster.com
