City vehicle fleet in line for something new

It may be a new year but it is business as usual for the Pasadena City Council as it gets down to business for the first meeting of the calendar year.
A slew of ordinances are up for final reading, with nearly half relating to the replacement of the city’s fleet of vehicles.
The Pasadena City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. today in Council Chambers at City Hall. Pre-council is scheduled to start in the chambers at 7 p.m.
The council will consider four ordinances involving the purchase of new vehicles.
Philpott Motors Ltd. in Nederland will be the biggest beneficiary if all the ordinances are passed. The company is in line to sell the city a total of 82 vehicles worth more than $2.08 million. The contract is through the BuyBoard program, which negotiates contracts for goods and services between businesses and municipalities, non-profit organizations and school districts.
Caldwell Country Chevrolet will provide the city with a new Chevy Silverado and Chevy Trailblazer worth a total of $46,950.
Finally, Caldwell Country Chevrolet will provide five Chevy Impalas with police packages and a Chevy Tahoe PPV for a total contract of $179,742.
In other business, the city is expected to approve a grant contract with the state of Texas worth $396,907. The grant is from the state Division of Emergency Management and is to be administered by the city Emergency Management Department.
No ordinances are on the agenda to be read for the first time.
The Pasadena City Council meets each Tuesday. The first meeting of each month is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. while the second meeting is slated to begin at 10 a.m. The meetings alternate between evenings and mornings the remainder of the month.
Anyone wishing to comment at the meeting may do so as long as they sign in at least five minutes prior to the start of the meeting with the city secretary in council chambers.
