Artists Alliance of Sugar Land’s Artist of the Month for January is Janet Green, an award-winning multi-media artist whose works have been on display in many local and national art exhibitions and galleries as well as private collections throughout the world.
Green’s month-long art show will include a collection of watercolor, oils, acrylics, prismacolor and sculpture at the Artists’ Alliance studio, located at 104 Industrial Boulevard, Ste. Q.
A graduate from the University of Houston with a degree in art education, Green’s art has been featured in the Bayou City Art Festival, Houston International Festival and the Texas and Louisiana Renaissance festivals.
The multi-media artist’s has pieces featured in permanent collections at the Museum of Southern History, Museum of Fort Bend County and Matagorda County Historical Museum.
“I have drawn and painted from childhood and knew in seventh grade that I wanted to teach art and create art,” Green said.
The Artists’ Alliance artist’s favorite piece is an oil painting of her grandson.
Past president of the Sugar Land Area Artist, Green’s work has been recognized as “Best of Show 2007,” “Best Professional Artist” and “Best Sculpture/Jewelry Artist” in various SLAA shows.
A former art teacher, Green currently teaches art classes to adults and children at the Artists’ Alliance art school and studios and the Morton Street Gallery in Richmond, where several of her works are on display.
She is also affiliated with the Art League of Fort Bend, Colored Pencil Society and Lone Star Art Guild.
Green is currently working on a portrait commission and a buffalo scene commission.
“I want to try my hand at sculpting a bas-relief portrait as my next project,” Green said.
