Bay Area baseball sign-up

Bay Area Texas Baseball will hold its spring registration for youth baseball and T-ball for players ages 4-18.

The sign-ups will be held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 3-4 and also Jan. 10-11 at Star Fire Grill Restaurant on the corner of Bay Area Blvd. near Space Center Blvd. The registrations will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

There will also be one evening registration on Wednesday, Jan. 7 from 6-8 p.m.


There are no tryouts – everyone plays. All games will be at Dad’s Club park off Highway 3 and Clear Lake City Blvd. in Clear Lake. There will be no fundraisers and no buyouts.

Little League registration

NASA Area Little League will hold final registration for the 2009 spring season on Jan. 10 at its facility on the corner of Diana and Ramada.

Registration times will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All new players are asked to bring a copy of birth certificate to the registration.

Sign-ups will be for Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch and Kid Pitch Baseball.

NASA Area Little League serves Clear Lake, Webster, Nassau Bay and parts of La Porte.

Seniors make noise on courts

Calling all Super Senior tennis players! A Super Senior Plus Tennis League for men and women ages 70 and older has been formed by the Houston Tennis Association.

Teams ranging from 6.0 to 9.0 levels will consist of a minimum of six players of the same gender.

The cost per player for the season is $15, plus a $3 Tennis Link registration fee. Players also must be HTA and USTA members.

Winter volleyball leagues form

College of the Mainland is forming winter volleyball leagues.

There will be four mixed and one women’s league. Teams will consist of three men and three women. League play will be Thursday evening beginning Jan. 22.

Registration deadline is Jan. 15.

The leagues will be A, for power teams, AB for power and intermediate players and the B league for intermediate level players.

The women’s Tuesday night league will start Jan. 27 with a sign-up deadline of Jan. 22. The all-female teams consist of 4-6 players. Playing time is 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The leagues will run about 10-12 weeks, depending on the number of teams entered. There will be a playoff at the end of the league season.
