By TANA ROSS
The second annual Secondary Faculty and Staff Volleyball Tournament was held at Magnolia West High School on Dec. 15. Organizers said it was a huge success and raised more than $1,000 for the Society of Samaritans Christmas Project, that serves local families.
“This was a group effort by each school pulling together, raising $1 000 and gifts and food,” Magnolia Independent School District Community Relations Director Charlie Brown said.
This year’s participants in the tournament included MWHS, Bear Branch 6th Grade Campus, Bear Branch Junior High School, Magnolia Junior High School, Nichols Sawmill Elementary School, Magnolia 6th Grade Campus, ALPH Academy, the MISD Technology Department and the MISD school board.
In addition, on Dec. 5, the Elementary Faculty and Staff Volleyball Tournament raised $1,562 and donated this money to SOS.
“We are thankful to everyone who participated in supporting this event, and we look forward to carrying on this tournament for many years to come,” MISD officials said. “Congratulations to everyone, and thank you for your generosity.”
For these two events, Magnolia West High School won the secondary bracket competition while Nichols Sawmill Elementary won the elementary bracket. Congratulations to everyone, and thank you for your generosity.
