Two more Liberty County football players were announced two the All-State teams last week.
Joining Dayton Broncos A.J. Dugat and Cody Green were Hardin’s John Stelly and Hull-Daisetta's Aaron Cook.
Dugat was named to the 4-A first team as a wide receiver, while Green was named Honorable Mention as a quarterback.
Stelly enjoyed a banner season for the Hornets linebacker position. The senior helped lead Hardin to the playoffs. The Hornets bowed out to New Waverly 37-8 at Turner Stadium in the second round of the playoffs. An All-State Class-2A honorable mention team member, Stelly finished the season with over 100 tackles for the season. He also contributed two sacks and six forced fumbles.
The Bobcats were represented on the 1-A team by Cook. A senior running back Cook finished the 2008 season with over 1,000 yards rushing despite playing only eight games. Cook was slowed by a MCL spain.
"Aaron is a great kid who has worked very hard for us," said Hull-Daisetta head coach Joe Slack.
"He provided great leadership and will be dearly missed," added Slack.
Cook also added 15 touchdowns on the season as the Bobcats also were a playoff entry.
