Bloesch helps Cougars to bowl win
The University of Houston football team won its first bowl game since 1980 -- well before any of the current Cougars were born -- and avenged a regular season loss to Air Force on Wednesday afternoon.
Cougars sophomore quarterback Case Keenum passed for 250 yards, a touchdown and an interception and rushed for two scores in a 34-28 win over Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl at Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.Houston senior offensive lineman Michael Bloesch, a Klein Collins graduate and one of the O-line’s leaders, played his final collegiate game for the Cougars (8-5).
On Tuesday night, No. 13 Oklahoma State fell to No. 15 Oregon, 42-31 in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. Three area players were among the Cowboys’ defensive leaders -- Cy Falls graduates Andre Sexton and Ricky Price had eight and five tackles, respectively, and Patrick Lavine, a Jersey Village alum, tallied seven tackles.
