Nu Image brings changes, services with new salon

She always had a passion for hair and a flair for fashion, prompting Tina McNeese to enroll in cosmetology school.

Leaving the clothing industry, McNeese started to study full time and graduated with her license and also caught a lucky break.

“I wanted to get into the beauty aspect because I had always been going to salons and spas,” McNeese said. “After I finished, I was going to work in the salon of the owner of the school until she said she was closing her day spa and getting out of the business.”

The cosmetology school owner sold McNeese all of her equipment in a package deal that was very affordable for her but she had to put it in storage until she finished getting her license.

In January 2005, with two licenses, McNeese found a location to start her own salon.

“When I first started, I was not too sure about what I was doing and did not have a large client base. I advertised for my salon and started to build my customer base, which got larger with time,” she said.

Her small salon was open for several years until she was offered a larger location in Spring which required some remodeling and more equipment.

“I never planned on expanding because I wanted to stay at my salon but the catch was, the equipment that was in the space was all mine,” McNeese said. “The Lord blessed me with a successful business and equipment both times.”

McNeese recently celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration of her salon, Nu Image Day Spa and Salon, and toasted to the expansion of her business.

Nu Image offers a variety of services to its clients including haircuts, extensions, color treatments along with offering facials, manicures, pedicures, hair removal, skin rejuvenation treatments and a variety of products for the face and hair.

“We are very excited about the new location and we have had a barrage of walk-ins. Even when we were working on remodeling, we had at least 20 new customers walk in to get more information about Nu Image,” McNeese said.

The new location first opened at the beginning of November and has hired new stylists and acquired new customers.

McNeese also volunteers at Atria Cypresswood Senior Living and gives the residents manicures, pedicures and fluffs their hair.

Nu Image Day Spa and Salon also features personalized stylist booths and a relaxation room with soft music and lighting where customers get their hair washed and prepared to be styled.

“I truly enjoy meeting and getting to know each of my customers. Listening to their stories while working to make them look and feel beautiful is the most important to me,” McNeese said.

“My passion is beauty and giving back to the community. Anything I can do to help others and make them feel beautiful - that is my job and passion.”
