Miss Teen Texas Pageant looking for Liberty County participants

Updated: 11.26.08
If you are single, and between the ages of 13 and 18, applications are now being accepted for the title of 2009 “Miss Teen Liberty County.”

Miss Teen Liberty County will represent her area at the Miss Teen Texas Pageant to be held at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas on March 20 – 22, 2009. The young woman selected as “Miss Teen Liberty County” will become an ambassador from the — Liberty County — area and receive an official title and sash.

The young lady crowned Miss Teen Texas will receive a scholarship and prize package valued at over $15,000 and the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2009 Miss Teen International Pageant.

The American Heart Association is the official charity of the Miss Teen Texas International Pageant. In 2008, the International Pageants joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and each state titleholder will champion heart disease as a national platform in addition to promoting their own platform throughout the year.

Go Red for Women captures the energy, passion, and intelligence of women, to work collectively to wipe out heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women. While 1-in-30 American women die of breast cancer, almost 1-in-3 will die from cardiovascular disease. The pageant’s passion is to unite women in this fight, even at an early age and pageant coordinators feel this involvement in the movement can help save lives. For more information go to www.GoRedForWomen.org.

The current reigning “2008” Miss Teen Texas is Hilary Elizondo of Corpus Christi, Texas. Hilary is a national spokesperson for DoSomething.org. As Miss Teen Texas, and in conjunction with DoSomething.org, she speaks to youth and teens about their power to make a difference. She looks to inspire a “generation of doers.” DoSomething.org provide teens the tools and resources for youth to convert their ideas and energy into positive action (www.dosomething.org).

Teen contestants will compete in Personal Interview, Fitness Wear, Fun Fashion Wear and Evening Gown. There is no talent or swimsuit competition and no experience necessary.

Teenage ladies living or attending school in Liberty County who are interested in applying should write for a biography form at Miss Teen Texas International Pageant, 14427 Brookhollow, Suite 197, San Antonio, Texas 78232, call 210-403-0589, e-mail kristin@texasinternationalpageants.com, or visit the website www.missteentexasinternational.com.
