Naughty or nice, Santa’s still coming to our town

Updated: 12.03.08
Snow is in the forecast — 40,000 pounds of it — when Bellaire celebrates a centennial version of Holiday in the Park in Bellaire Town Square from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Santa will arrive on a city fire engine with a full police escort at about 5:45 p.m., and will visit with youngsters in the gazebo.

Families may purchase professional photo packages or bring their own cameras.

There will be food, moon jumps, a petting zoo, pony rides, a lighted kiddie train, crafts and entertainment from local schools.

For the 19th year, Realtor John Daugherty is playing Santa and offering families free professional photos of their youngsters with Old Saint Nick at seven locations Saturday.

Youngsters can pose with Santa in holiday settings, whisper their wishes — and families receive a disk with the photos that can be sent to relatives, used on cards or placed in scrapbooks.

“We are proud to continue this tradition year after year,” said Daugherty, president of John Daugherty Realtors. “(It) is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all who have helped contribute to our company’s tremendous success.”

Photographers will be available from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at these sites:

•3900 University Blvd., West University Place;

•River Oaks Park (Pumpkin Park)

•Nature Discovery Center, 7112 Newcastle Dr., Bellaire;

•Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay St., Memorial;

•Tanglewood Boulevard at San Felipe;

•Briargrove Park, 1202 Seagler Road;

•John Daugherty Realtors, 13130 Memorial Drive.

For information, call 713-626-3930 or 713-935-4100.
