Unwelcome sight
By DIANE TEZENO
Sixty-eight-year-old Henry Jacobs woke to find the garage doors of his Missouri City home sprayed painted with graffiti.
A resident of Hunters Park subdivision, Jacobs’ home was one of five homes vandalized in the subdivision on Nov. 19 by a group of unknown suspects.
Jacobs’ home, located between two vacant homes, became a part of what appears to be a random spree of criminal mischief incidents.
Three of the homes targeted in the subdivision were vacant houses.
Jacobs’ van and the vehicles of several neighbors were covered in blue lettering signifying various gang insignia.
According to the police report, several of the homes and cars were covered with the words “20’s,” “BK,” and “crip killa,” and appears to be gang graffiti.
“All I can do is keep a watchful eye out,” Jacob said of the incident.
A 30-year former employee of Rainbow Bakery, now retired, Jacobs said this is the first time anything like this has occurred in what he describes as a “quiet neighborhood.”
“It is sort of frightening to know it came so close to my home,” Jacobs said.
A homeowner, outdoors when the homes were vandalized, told Jacobs’ he yelled out when he saw four young black males spray painting one of the homes.
The youth fled towards Hunters Trail Park, according to the neighbor.
Jacob is now focusing on cleaning up the damages to his home and vehicle.
“It cost $70 to paint the sides and hood of my van, and I will probably spend about $200 to repaint the garage doors,” Jacob said.
The Missouri City resident described the vandalism as a case of young people with too much time on their hands.
Anyone with information on the suspects involved in the incidents is asked to contact the Missouri City Police Department at 281-403-8700.
