Georgeton in Rose Parade

Updated: 11.21.08
Dino Georgeton, Friendswood HS sophomore, has been selected to take part in the Bands of America Honor Band which will march in the Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 1 in Pasadena, California.

Georgeton is a part of the Friendswood High School Mighty Mustang Band Wind Ensemble and plays snare in the Drumline of the Mustang Marching Band. Dino will be a member of the American Honor Band Snare line featuring high school students from all over the United States.

The Bands of America Honor Band is a 300-piece national parade and field show band that will be directed by George N. Parks, Director of the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, and an All-Star staff.

Students from all over the country auditioned and were selected for their musical and performing talents. Every New Year's Day since 1890, the world has gone to Pasadena, California, USA.

Nearly a million go in person for the tradition and pageantry, and for fun. Hundreds of millions more watch the worldwide broadcasts on TV in more than 150 international territories.

In addition to the parade, the Honor Band will perform at the Tournament of Roses Bandfest, presented by Remo USA, featuring the prize-winning bands of the 2009 Rose Parade performing the field shows that made them famous. The Honor Band will be a featured guest, with all members as part of the on- field performance.

On the weekend of Nov. 14-16, Dino joined the remaining Honor Band Drumline in Indianapolis, Indiana for a weekend of practicing and preparing. On Saturday evening the Drumline was the featured guest and performed at the famous Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, for the conclusion of the Bands of America National Marching Band Finals.
