Fill Santa's Sack in Missouri City

From staff reports
Updated: 11.24.08
Police officers in Missouri City will have a chance to show a softer side to area youth, as the department begins its annual Police Officer’s Toy Drive.

Area residents are asked to stop by the Public Safety Headquarters, located at 3845 Cartwright Road to drop off a toy for families in need.

Toy drop off barrels are located in the lobby of city hall at 1522 Texas Parkway and in the lobby of public safety headquarters.

The annual Police Officer's Association toy drive benefits families in need throughout Fort Bend County.

"The program is helpful by allowing officers to serve families at a special time of year and to show the other side of law enforcement," Community Relations Officer Dan Flagg said.

"Most officers entered the profession to help others, but often find themselves unable to fulfill that goal in the way they intended. This allows the officers to actually help wrap and deliver toys to children and serves as a special bond with them."

Toys collected during drive will be donated to Bethel Ministries on Fifth Street in Missouri City on behalf of underprivileged children in the area.

The ministry has distributed toys from the annual drive for 25 years. Last year, more than 500 children received toys through the program.
