Houston resumes heavy trash hauls

Updated: 11.26.08
The city of Houston’s heavy trash collection returned to its normal schedule Monday.

December is a junk waste month, and there is a limit of eight cubic yards for each household — about two regular pick-up trucks full, a city spokesman city said.

The heavy trash schedule will alternate each month from tree waste to junk waste disposal.

Tree Waste months are January, March, May, July, September and November, while junk waste months are February, April, June, August, October and December.

Tree waste includes clean wood waste such as tree limbs, branches and stumps. Lumber, furniture and treated wood will not be accepted.

Junk waste includes furniture, appliances and other bulky material.

Collections will occur on regularly scheduled heavy trash days, unless the resident has been notified of a change.
