Lone Star College System Small Business Development Center recently presented the 22nd Annual Small Business Advisory Council Awards during a banquet hosted at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. More than 300 guests were in attendance for the event.
The LSC SBDC Advisory Council reviewed more than 130 nominated businesses and selected 15 finalists, three from each community served by a Lone Star college. Five were selected and recognized as award recipients at the banquet.
Award recipients for the 22nd Annual LSC SBDC Business of the Year Awards were:
Lone Star College-Tomball
• Grayson-Patton Team, Nancy Grayson, Summer and David Patton
Lone Star College-CyFair
• Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union, Debbie Blackshear
Lone Star College-Kingwood
• GrowthForce, Stephen King
Lone Star College-Montgomery
• e-Cardio Diagnostics, Larry Lawson
Lone Star College-North Harris
• Mattco Manufacturing, Tammy Ahlgren
Sarah Patton, of Tomball’s Grayson-Patton Team, said the business was excited to be named the winner.
“We were thrilled to win and were so pleased to be a part of the recognition of small businesses that give back and support their community,” Patton said. “Lone Star College System is well known for improving our community through education and we are grateful for the resources LSC SBDC provides growing businesses like ours. This award means a lot to us on a professional level but has a lot to do with the way we individually conduct ourselves in the community so it is of the highest compliment.”
Gold sponsors for this year’s event included Sam’s Club and First Community Bank. Dinner entertainment was provided by Ace Jazz Group.
Sal Mira, director of the small business development center, said this year’s banquet was a success.
“We had a spectacular awards banquet this year recognizing these small businesses for their business achievements and contributions to our community,” Mira said. “This year’s award recipients represented a broad spectrum of industries from financial to real estate, to health care and manufacturing.”
