December no time to slackon becoming a better business

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at San Jacinto College will offer training workshops for small business owners and managers during the month of December.

“Starting a Business” is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Central campus SBDC, located at 8060 Spencer Hwy., in Pasadena. Participants in the $15 workshop will learn about considering personal skills and experience, marketing potential of business ideas, general rules for operating a small business and sources of funding.

The “Starting a Business” workshop will also be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the San Jacinto College North SBDC, located at 5800 Uvalde Road in the North Channel area.

The SBDC at San Jacinto College provides free counseling and low-cost workshops to help small business owners start and grow their companies. Working with existing as well as start-up firms, SBDC seeks to increase profits, reduce failures and create jobs in the local community to contribute to economic development.

SBDC consultants can help business owners apply for business loans, create written business plans, devise marketing strategies, develop operating budgets and more. Workshops cover basic management topics.
