Business professionals walk in the shoes of a principal for a day
By MATTHEW HUISMAN
The East Montgomery Chamber of Commerce had its annual Principal for a Day event to connect business men and women with schools in their community. During the morning of Nov. 20, chamber members and elected officials shadowed principals from New Caney and Splendora school districts to better understand what their jobs entail while exposing the members to the kinds of programs offered throughout the campus.
“I learned about all the opportunities that kids have,” said Jennifer Neel. Neel shadowed Principal Penny Peacock at Kings Manor Elementary.
Neel said she was impressed by the amount of programs available for special needs children.
Peacock praised the program, saying that it was nice to have people understand what principals do daily.
“The community sees what we do on a day-to-day basis,” Peacock said. “It builds a collaboration with the community.”
