Fast-break points hurt the Lady Indians

The Lady Indians tied up their laces last Tuesday against Willis, but they came up short with Willis winning 65-61.
The Lady Indians were tested as Willis poured on buckets effortlessly, commanding the game going up by 20 points.
“We had bad transition defense,” Coach Shiakiea Carter said.
Still, the Lady Indians never gave up even as they were down by double digits late in the third quarter and as Willis continued to get uncontested shots from the field. The Lady Indians rallied back with a never-surrender attitude and were able to cut the game into single digit leads for Willis.
“The majority of their points was from fast breaks, but we cut the game to being down by nine points by the end of the third quarter,” Coach Carter said.
The Lady Indians’ comeback did not scare Willis as they went on another run.
“They began to score again at the beginning of the fourth quarter and we just couldn’t rebound from it. We competed but didn’t have enough in the end,” Coach Carter said.
The Lady Indians’ Tariesha Scott went crazy as she was in the zone offensively, scoring 29 points, followed by Reniqua Davis’ double-double night with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Indians are now 3-5.
They will return to action this Friday at home against Channelview. The game time is 6 p.m.
