With football getting all the attention during the playoffs, you probably thought that we forgot about basketball. Well, we haven’t.
So to makeup somewhat, here are the results of last week’s boy’s and girl’s hoops action.
All the CCISD teams saw action this week before taking a break to resume after the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
Ladies first, so we’ll start with the Clear Lake girls defeating Deer Park 52-39. Jasmine Beverly led the Lady Falcons with 18 points, followed by 13 points from Kelsey Jarrett. The win upped Lake’s early season record to 2-4. The Lady Deer dropped to 1-5.
Interestingly enough the game was tied 35-35 heading into the fourth period but the Falcons poured it on the fourth outscoring Deer Park 17-4.
Eisenhower proved too tough in a 61-31 win over Clear Creek. The loss left the Lady Wildcats with a 5-3 mark. Nyha Carter was the only Wildcat in double figures, scoring 11 points. The first quarter was slow going as the Lady Eagles only had a 6-3 lead. But in the second period Eisenhower outscored Creek 20-3 and added to its lead from there. The Eagles improved to 7-1.
Unbeaten North Shore (7-0) broke away from a 12-9 first-period edge to pull away for a 57-37 win over Clear Brook. The Lady Wolverines (5-3) were led by Kiara Redmon’s 12 points and Adelyn Ezeh’s 10.
Clear Springs lost a tough 48-36 decision at Oak Ridge. The Lady Chargers led 8-5 after the first period and trailed only by one at halftime, 17-16. But after the break Oak Ridge (5-3) doubled up on Clear Springs 14-7 in the third period and maintained its lead after that. Aaliyah Brown led the Chargers with 12 points. Clear Springs is 2-4 on the season.
Play resumed Tuesday, Dec. 2, for most, but because of The Citizen’s Tuesday morning copy deadline the results and scores won’t be published until the Dec. 11 issue. In the meantime you can catch all the results on www.bayareacitizen.com.
Now for the guys:
Clear Brook (1-1) lost a tough one at home to Spring (5-1) by a 77-73 count. Aaron Miller led the Wolverines with 20 points, followed by Jarek Player with 14.
Clear Creek (1-2) also fell in a close one to Cinco Ranch (6-2). The Wildcats led 21-19 at halftime but then were outscored 17-7 in the third period.
Clear Springs also played a close game and the Chargers (3-0) defeated Manvel 69-65. It was an even matchup for two periods as each team scored 20 in both stanzas as the half ended at 40-40. But Clear Springs outscored Manvel 18-12 in the third period and kept its distance. Sam Richardson, with 17 points and Ryan Garcia, with 16, paced the Chargers.
Clear Lake will play at La Porte today. The result will be here online following the game.
