Submitted Article
There will be snow on the ground as Lone Star College-Tomball rings in the holiday season with a Winter Wonderland of activities on Dec. 4. The surrounding community is invited to this annual celebration which features musical entertainment, pictures with Santa, refreshments and a host of games for the children.
Activities include train rides, hayrides, pony rides, crafts and games conducted by LSC-Tomball student clubs. Games begin at 5:30 p.m. All games and activities are free. The snow playgrounds – one for children five and under and one for children six to 10 – will open at 6 p.m.
Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. with the Tomball faculty/staff singers followed by the Lyon Elementary student choir and the college jazz ensemble. The entertainment will be held in the Beckendorf Conference Center where there will be cookies, lemonade, coffee and wassail.
Pictures with Santa will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Block Box Theater. The Polaroid photos are $5 each. Proceeds from the picture sales are used to provide student scholarships.
Throughout the evening, Santa’s elves will be collecting presents for Santa’s special deliveries. Guests are invited to bring donations of wrapped personal items and toiletries for Santa’s visits to area senior citizen facilities and toys for his visits to children in local hospitals. Wrapped presents should be labeled for child or senior and for gender.
