The Houston Northwest Medical Center received another honor for its exemplary work in the field of preventative health.
This time its Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Services was recognized as being one of the best in the business.
As a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology, Houston Northwest Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy, mammography, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT and MRI scans.
“We are pleased to be recognized for our quality care in so many modalities,” said Juan Fresquez, associate administrator. “ACR accreditation provides a high level of confidence for patients, referring physicians and managed care organizations. This is an outstanding achievement that supports other initiatives at Houston Northwest Medical Center to improve outcomes and patient safety.”
The ACR awards accreditations to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. These evaluations are done by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They access the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment, then report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practices with a comprehensive report.
