Lady Cavs rip No. 10 Cy-Fair, earn tourney title
With Monique Smalls playing what her coach termed was the best game of the senior point guard’s career, the College Park Lady Cavaliers ran past No. 10-ranked Cy-Fair 85-61 Saturday to win the Division I title of the Texas Invitational in Pasadena.
Now 11-0 on the season, the fourth-ranked Lady Cavs jumped out to a 30-10 lead after the first quarter. Although Cy-Fair’s 6-foot-3 Chiney Ogwumike finished with 33 points, College Park offset her inside presence by hitting eight of 16 shots from beyond the three-point circle.

Named the tournament MVP, Smalls scored 29 points, came up with nine steals and dished out 13 assists.
“She put the team on her back and was determined they were going to win,” Anderson said, of Smalls. “I’ve never seen her play like that.”
