Public invited to Trojan community pep rally

Updated: 11.10.08
Play-off bound Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Trojans will get a big send-off at 6 p.m. Thursday when COHS hosts a Community Pep Rally at Trojan Field.

The bi-district showdown between COHS Trojans and the West Orange-Stark Mustangs is 6 p.m. Saturday at Abshier Stadium in Deer Park.

Bryan Barbay, athletic director, said, “We invite the public out to the pep rally and game to support the players and school. It instills a sense of pride to know everyone is cheering for us,” he says.

Tickets for the game are now on sale at the school district Administration Building, COHS, and Lincoln Junior High. Also, tickets will be sold at the Community Pep Rally. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Admission at the gate is $6 for all entrants; there are no discount rates for students.

Abshier Stadium, site of the game, is located on the southeast side of Houston, near Beltway 8, south of Interstate 10 and Highway 225. Take Beltway 8 to the San Augustine exit and go east. Abshier Stadium is directly behind Deer Park High School-South Campus at 710 W. San Augustine.

COHS will be the “home” team. Home team parking is located on the west side of the stadium, accessible via Pasadena Boulevard, Center Street, or San Augustine.

Finally, play-off T-shirts are also available for $15 each at the Administration Building and COHS.
