Francis’ game awakens with 300 game, 790 series

Look out Top-10 bowlers, the defending men’s bowling champion has awakened.
Dennis Francis, who won the 2007-2008 title with 245 points, but had been shut out for the opening two months of the new season, awoke with a vengeance this past week at Armadilla I Lanes.
Competing in the Occidental Mixed League, Dennis rolled a 300 game to help him collect a splendid 790 series, giving the defending champion 55 quick points, jump-starting his pursuit to defending his crown.
With 40 points going towards a 300 game and 15 points for any three-game series that lands between a 775 and a 799, Dennis went from off the radar to tied for third place with those 55 points.
But the Top-10 list has another new name. Rusty Ransdell captured a rare 800 series, good for 50 points and sole ownership of fifth place. His best game was a 280.
Returning to the Occidental Mixed League, John Ubias scored a 289 game that got him a 756 series and Israel Meza canned a 279 game that sparked him to a 755 series. Wiley Maris secured a 744 series and Jeff Clark netted a 741 series. Bryan McNair also threw a 279 game.
Action in the Monday Madness League featured Jeff Wood’s 749 series and 279 game. Bobby Browder cornered a 729, Ruben Rosales collected a 713 and Steve Tidwell owned a 712 series. High-game honors went to Ross Biggs and his delightful 298. Heather Jones, a member of the women’s Top-10 list, just missed adding 25 points to her total when she rolled a 698 series and 267 games.
Danny Sanders tried to keep pace with Rusty in the Latecomers League by rolling the three-game total of 736. For the ladies, Dana Simmons scored a 668 series and Donna Zurovec collected a 264 game.
Play in the Shriners League had Dale Spahr enjoying a 637 series after rolling a 253 game. Juan Brown scored a 525 series and Debra Slayton found a 217 game.
Wiley Maris’ 693 series and 245 game topped the SCORA League. Penni Bilski’s 623 series and 254 game led the ladies.
Rick Lantz’s 696 series and 265 game was the big news in the Rebels League. Jean Cope led the women with her 655 series and 247 game.
In Challengers B league action, Eric Wixson belted out a fine 730 series and 279 game. James Elliot was close behind with a 712 series and 241 game. Ashley Lawley’s 594 series and 217 game led the ladies. In Challengers A, Jeffery Wood rolled a 442 series and 182 game. Caitlin Lawley had a dandy week after securing a 521 series and 200 game.
Liz Latham’s 597 series and 217 game led the Thursday Nite Ladies. The Bay Foursome League featured Patty Crossland’s 568 series and 204 game. In Bowlerettes, Donna Hughes enjoyed a 617 series and 235 game.
