Smaller gym provides personable service to clients
By JENNIFER SUMMER
A personal place for residents to work out while receiving one-on-one training has been Mark Lalmansingh’s plan for more than 10 years.
“I had been training and teaching physical education for years but I wanted to open a place where those who want to work out feel comfortable and not at all intimidated,” Lalmansingh said.
Lalmansingh partnered with Ian Teelucksingh and Francisco Garllardo to create and open a new fitness center for the community, Atascocita Fitness.
The fitness center boasts several different pieces of cardio equipment including treadmills and stationary bikes while also providing equipment for weight lifting and training.
Atascocita Fitness is planning to open its doors for customers by Nov. 15.
“Our main goal is to provide a gym for the community and surrounding neighborhoods where our guests can train, work out and make healthy decisions,” Lalmansingh said.
The gym will be open evening hours during the week and during the day on weekends and will include a day care room and locker rooms for women and men.
The day care will not be open until January to allow for renovations to be completed.
“It is a little gym but has a big feel to it. Our guests will not feel intimidated as they may with larger gyms when they walk into Atascocita Fitness,” Lalmansingh added.
The first time new customers sign up with the gym, they will undergo an evaluation, tour the facility and meet with one of the trainers if they have any questions or need help with the equipment.
Work-out fanatics 12 years old and older can join Atascocita Fitness and get a workout.
Atascocita Fitness also hopes to educate their clients on how to use the equipment properly and effectively so if they move to another community where there is a gym they will know how to use the equipment.
“We want to make sure the families who use our gym feel comfortable. We are encouraging a lifestyle change at an affordable price,” Lalmansingh said.
Atascocita Fitness is located near the intersection of Will Clayton Parkway and Atascocita Road near the new apartments being constructed and other new developments.
Additionally, with the current economy woes and other problems, Lalmansingh added that Atascocita Fitness will keep the prices affordable to offer people who are under a lot of stress a place to work out and burn off some of that stress.
Though the facility does not have space for an aerobics class, the gym plans to offer customers a bootcamp-style workout several times and circuit training using their new machines.
Lalmansingh, Teelucksingh and Garllardo also hope for plenty of customer feedback about their equipment or what they hope to see in Atascocita Fitness when they open.
“We hope to offer our customers a gym where their goals are attainable, it is affordable and very personable since we are a smaller gym,” Lalmansingh said.
“We want our customers to get up, get moving and get fit. We are very excited to offer Atascocita Fitness to our customers and encourage everyone to come check us out.”
