TCC offers free care to DOD personnel
The Moody Health Center at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena recently launched a new program to offer free chiropractic care for a limited time to Department of Defense active-duty personnel and their dependents.
The Moody Health Center (MHC) is the outpatient clinic on the Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) campus and is open to the public. The clinic is a teaching center with five attending Doctors of Chiropractic, and with the facilities to care for up to 600 patients a day in the areas of chiropractic, injury care, nutritional consultation, acupuncture, rehabilitation, physical medicine, and radiology services. As a teaching center for TCC, the MHC offers quality care at an affordable rate and walk-ins are always accepted.
The MHC announced this new program on the heels of the recent passage by U.S. Congress of the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a directive for the Pentagon to make chiropractic care available to active duty military personnel at 60 locations.
Director of the MHC and Dean of Clinics at TCC, Steve Elliott, D.C., indicated that this new program aims to be temporary while the DOD institutes the new congressional directive.
“We at the Moody Health Center are excited to offer chiropractic services to active military personnel and their families,” Elliott said. “We hope that the positive health benefits that these men and women receive at our clinic will encourage the military to expand chiropractic care opportunities beyond what is being mandated by congress.”
The program will be available to all active-duty Department of Defense personnel, their spouses and children under the age of 21. These patients must show their DOD identification cards for every visit.
Free services include exams, X-rays, chiropractic manipulations and therapies. Patients will be charged the MHCs standard low rates for additional services including acupuncture, kiniesiotaping, lab work, orthotics and nutritional supplements.
Interested DOD personnel may learn more about the program by contacting the Moody Health Center at 281-487-1501. The MHC and TCC are located at 5912 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, just east of the Sam Houston Tollway.
