Santa Fe man in hot water after chase

Updated: 11.17.08
Friendswood Police have charged a man with multiple offenses after he fled from officers during a traffic stop.

Christopher Rodgers, 28, of Santa Fe was stopped for a traffic violation in the 4900 block of FM 2351 just after midnight Nov. 17. While the officer was speaking with him, Rodgers reportedly put his car into gear and fled towards Interstate 45.

Officers pursued Rodgers southbound on the freeway at a high rate of speed. Rodgers led officers down West Bay Area Blvd and through the Wedgewood subdivision before again traveling east on FM 2351.

He crossed into the Clear Lake City area and turned south onto El Camino Real and then into a residential subdivision. He pulled over at a park near Redwood Bend Trail and fled on foot into the park. Officers chased Rodgers down and took him into custody after a brief foot chase.

During the pursuit, Rodgers threw a large black bag out of his car. Officers recovered the bag and found it to contain 42.7 grams of methamphetamine, Ecstasy, marijuana, soma, hydrocodone, Xanex, alprazolam, valium, lorazepam and Viagra along with various forms of drug paraphernalia including syringes and scales.

Rodgers was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and Evading in a Motor Vehicle. He was also held on several outstanding Galveston and Harris County warrants.
