Shepard, Navjar to play in All-American game
By Michael Sudhalter
Cy Ridge senior quarterback Russell Shepard and Klein Oak tight end Jordan Navjar have been selected to play in the ESPN-Under Armour All-American Football Game in January at Orlando, Fla.
Shepard, widely considered to be the top high school football player in the nation, is committed to LSU. In fact, he’ll graduate from Cy Ridge next month and enroll at LSU in January.
At 5 p.m. Saturday, Shepard will lead the Rams (8-2) against Lufkin (7-4) in a second round playoff game at Kyle Field in College Station.
Navjar has committed to Stanford University in California. He helped lead the Panthers to a share of their first district championship in 12 years. At 6 p.m. Saturday, Klein Oak (8-1) will play Cy Creek (8-1) at the Berry Center in a rematch of Klein Oak’s 38-29 win over the Cougars on Sept. 6.
