New facility opens for guests at the Kingwood Country Club

With a workout room with large windows overlooking the pool and natural forest paired with natural stone accents and a café serving smoothies and wrap sandwiches, the Sport Resort at the Clubs of Kingwood provides a one-stop place for families, work-out fanatics or those who just want to unwind.
The club recently celebrated the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and tours throughout the complex to give guests a preview of the new center.
“We are very excited that the Sport Resort is now open and our members can take advantage of all of the services we are offering,” Clubs of Kingwood general manager Mike Feild said.
“The Sport Resort is essentially five facilities which include a gym, spa, café, tennis pro shop, kids area, locker rooms and is located adjacent to the water park.”
The idea for the Sport Resort has been five years in the making, beginning two years ago with the construction of the water park.
The 17,000-square-foot facility was recently completed to offer members a place in the community to work out, relax, play sports and snack on delicious foods prepared in-house.
The fitness center features exercise bicycles, treadmills, step machines and elliptical machines that include features that allow for Mp3 players and iPods along with headphones to be used while working out.
There are also limited free weights available for those wishing to bulk up on muscle.
“All of our equipment is state of the art and technologically savvy. Our members will get a kick out of all of the amenities we offer,” Feild added. “We also have flexible hours that allow for anyone who wants to work out time to do so before work or after work or any other activities they have planned.”
The Sport Resort also offers a group exercise room where a variety of different classes like yoga, Pilates and specific sports classes will be held to improve members’ games whether it is for golf or tennis.
Additionally, for those looking to relax, a full licensed spa will be opening that offers all of the regular services from massages and manicures and pedicures to facials and special packages for special occasions.
“We will be adding pampering services that our members can enjoy with their friends before a big event or big night out on the town,” Feild said.
While members are working out or relaxing, their children can spend time in the kids’ area. Parents must stay on the club’s premises for the child to stay in the child care area and they can only stay a maximum of four and half hours a day.
During the summer, the café will open up to the water park to allow for families to snack on hot dogs and other treats while hanging at the pool.
The facility also boasts the tennis pro-shop which has all of the equipment and accessories one might need when hitting up the courts.
During the winter months, the café will remain open but will offer more soup and sandwich combinations for members.
From any viewpoint in the new Sport Resort, members can view the park and a variety of the other amenities of the club.
Members of the Clubs of Kingwood have access to the facility as long as it is within their membership contract.
“This is a great compliment for our club and our members. This adds additional services our members can enjoy,” Feild said. “We are now open 100 percent and we invite everyone to come experience our services and enjoy the Clubs of Kingwood.”
