Cy Woods selected to beta test programming environment
Cypress Woods High School was selected by Carnegie Mellon University to beta-test the new computer programming environment, Alice 3.0.
Alice 3.0 is the new version of Alice that will be released in 2009. It’s a teaching tool designed to be a student’s first exposure to object-oriented programming, allowing students to learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated movies and simple video games.
Cy Woods was one of three U.S. high schools chosen from 90 applicants to beta-test the product. Students in the school’s computer programming classes will provide feedback to the developers at Carnegie Mellon to refine the latest version before it becomes available nationwide.
