Auto fire stops traffic on SH 105
By VANESA BRASHIER
Cleveland firefighters and police officers were called to a suspicious car fire Thursday afternoon off SH 105, west of Cleveland.
The fire had completely engulfed a Ford pickup truck under the SH 105 bridge by the San Jacinto River. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which sent flames lapping up to the top of the bridge. The fire was fueled by a ruptured gas tank.
Police and firefighters on the scene checked to be sure that the vehicle was empty after the fire was extinguished. Both groups say that there have been more automobiles set ablaze in recent months, not just in the Cleveland area, and suggested that some might be for insurance claims. At this time, the cause of Thursday’s blaze is unknown.
