Vendors Sought for christmas countdown

Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) of Fort Bend is hosting the second Annual Christmas Countdown craft show to be held on Nov. 15 at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, Bldg. C. Hope through Sharing Grief Support Group


The Hope through Sharing Grief Support Group at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital provides an opportunity to learn about grief, the process of grief, and how it impacts your life. The group also provides a safe place for those grieving the death of a loved one to work with their story and their feelings about what has happened. The group, which meets on the second Tuesday of every month begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m., and then moves to small group work until 7:30. For more information, call 281-274-7164.

Park Ten Toastmasters

Toastmasters is more than practicing your public speaking skills. Learn how to run a meeting, build contacts, communicate better with everyone you know -- and change your life. ESL classes

Would you like to speak better English? Free ESL classes are being held on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. at the First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd. in Sugar Land. A free citizenship class is also taught on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. The church is located on the north side of Highway 59 at First Colony Boulevard. All are welcome. La Leche League

Mothers wishing to find out more about breastfeeding are invited to attend a meeting of La Leche League of Fort Bend every second Monday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Hermann Sugarland Hospital or every third Monday at 10:30 a.m. at River Park Community Center. Babies are always welcome at meetings. Divorce Care is a weekly support group and seminar. You'll learn how to deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life. Introductor Computer Classes

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff at Mamie George Branch Library, 320 Dulles Avenue in Stafford, will present free, introductory computer classes this month on using Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and basic computer use. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer programs. The “Computers 101” class will take place on Nov. 17, beginning at 6 p.m. The “MS Word Survival Basics” class will take place on Nov. 20, beginning at 10 am. The “MS PowerPoint Survival Basics” class will take place on Nov. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. The classes are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. Donate or attempt to donate through Nov. 30 and be entered in a drawing to win Continental Airlines tickets. Fort Bend County Libraries invites book-lovers to join in a Book Break on Nov. 13, beginning at 1 p.m., in the Conference Room at the Sugar Land Branch Library, 550 Eldridge Road. The book to be discussed is Mischa Berlinski’s debut novel, “Fieldwork.”The literary discussion group is free and open to the public; those attending are invited to bring along a lunch, if desired. Fort Bend AAUW

Green Thumb Seminar: Tree Care

Colors of Commitment Blood Drive

One week before Texas A&M and the University of Texas face off on the football field, fans of both teams can help save lives and support their team by crediting either Texas A&M Greater Houston Alumni (group code 1234) or the UT Texas Exes (group code UTEX) when they donate. All who donate or attempt to donate will receive a commemorative T-shirt. One person will be randomly selected to win a pair of tickets to the Thanksgiving Day game at Darrell K. Ft. Bend Exchange Club

The Ft. Bend Exchange Club will meet Wednesday, Nov. 19 at noon. The meeting is held at the Sweetwater Country Club - 4400 Palm Royale Blvd. in Sugar Land. The Child Advocates Organization will coming to tell all about their programs. Visitors are welcome. There is not a cost to attend this luncheon meeting.

Fort Bend Rotary Club

The Arc’s Best of the West

The public is invited to join the fun on Nov. 22 at the George Ranch Historical Park Arena in Richmond for The Arc of Fort Bend County’s 30 Annual Best in the West Dinner, Dance and Auction.
