Navy Seaman Recruit Autumn D. Gallien, a 2008 graduate of Friendswood High School, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Army Reserve Pvt. Dion A. Walker has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
He is the grandson of Audrey Steppes of Pearland, and Ernestine Walker of Athens, Ga.
Air Force Airman Keith B. Kalinec has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
He is the son of Mary Jo Wood of Friendswood. Kalinec is a 2006 graduate of Boys Ranch High School, Texas.
Air Force Reserve Airman Curtis R. Kennedy has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
He is the son of Audra Kennedy of Pearland.
Air Force Airman Christopher A. Lloyd has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Sue Lloyd of Tulsa, Okla., and Rex Lloyd of Pearland. Lloyd is a 2007 graduate of Jenks High School, Okla.
Army National Guard Pvt. Wendell K. Banks has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
Banks is the son of Patrica Banks of Friendswood, and nephew of June Mitchell of Houston. The private is a 2003 graduate of Kashmere High School, Houston.
Air Force Airman Evert D. Johnson has arrived for duty at Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, N.M. Johnson is an aerospace propulsion/jet mechanic.
He is the son of Michealle Remmers of Friendswood. In 2007, Johnson graduated from Clear Brook High School.
Air Force Airman Antoine Nguyen has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Sen Tran of Friendswood. Nguyen is a 2005 graduate of Clear Brook High School.
Shane G. Lockridge,a 2008 graduate of Friendswood High School, received an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship offer to attend a selected host college or university.
The cadet was selected to receive the scholarship certificate on the basis of comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. The majority of Air Force ROTC scholarships cover full college/university tuition, provide textbook allowance, and pay most laboratory or incidental fees. In addition, at least a $300 tax-free monthly allowance is paid to recipients during the academic year. The estimated value of the scholarship depends on the student's choice of school and type of scholarship offered.
Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, the cadet will receive a bachelor's degree and a commission of second lieutenant in the Air Force.
