Girl with miniature horse earns awards

The Greater Houston Miniature Horse Club’s fall extravaganza miniature horse show was held at Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy last weekend.
Among 25 Youth Hunter participants at age 12 and younger, Adrianne Sullivan of Deer Park, showing a miniature horse Roy’s Toy Tiny Snippet, garnered third and fourth places from two of the four judges.
At the Youth Jumper competition for the 12 years and under, all four judges gave sixth place to Adrianne and Tiny Snippet.
Asked how Tiny Snippet was doing that day, Adrianne, 12, said, “Good.”
Paula Sullivan, Adrianne’s mother, said while some horses get excited when they meet other horses, Tiny Snippet is not very excitable and “pretty even-tempered.”
“He just doesn’t like to be by himself...If he is by himself, he just cries,” Sullivan said.
As his name indicates, Tiny Snippet is rather small. He is 29.5 inches high and weighs about 200 pounds.
Adrianne said everybody at the show thinks he is just a baby though he is actually 13.
“He is just really tiny,” Adrianne said.
Tiny Snippet was born to Bond Snippet and Bond Merrylegs, both about 30 inches high.
Evelyn Vidos of Deer Park, who bought the miniature horse six years ago and let Adriane perform with him, said the white line on his back is “a sign of Snippet” and that they occasionally see another Snippet, who is related to Tiny, at competitions.
Adrianne goes to Bonnette Junior High School and usually trains Tiny Snippet for shows for about two hours a day, four to five days a week. She has been taking care of miniature horses for 2 years.
“She loves it,” her mother said. “When she grows up she wants to become a veterinarian.”
