PLSR Equine Classic Open Horse Show & Playday this week-end
![]() |
This year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary Open Horse show Saturday, Nov. 1.
The weather forecast couldn’t be better and we hoping for a good turn-out for this event. There is no admission to the equine events at the fairgrounds this week-end and we encourage the public to come out and watch. This is a fun event and kids love to come watch the horses compete.
This is an open all breed horse show so this means any type of equine. We even have a zebra to show! We have classes for all levels of performance and all ages. The horse show has received both PAC (Paint) and OCAP (Pinto) class approval for those that are showing and earning points toward year end awards with those organizations.
We have three age groups plus an 8 and Under Walk/Trot division included for our youth exhibitors. Since we were moved after the rodeo we have added back an ever popular costume class. This seemed appropriate for the day after Halloween. We also have a cake walk class on horseback. Registration opens Saturday at 6:45 a.m.
Our Playday is Sunday, Nov. 2. This is strictly our speed event competition with barrels, poles, straight-a-way barrels and speed among different age groups. Exhibitions for poles and barrels only will be from 10 a.m.-Noon. Playday events begin at 12:30. Registration opens Sunday at 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Breed registration papers are not needed, however all equine event participants do need a current negative coggins to enter the grounds and participate. Participants should enter the grounds via the Fairmont gates. Remember the arena is covered so no rain outs (except for a hurricane!). Stalls are available and limited on a first come, first pay basis for $15.
A digital photographer will be on the grounds which lends the perfect opportunity for those holiday photographs. Concessions are available both days. We will have vendors and a moonwalk for the kids. A silent auction will be held both days and bake sale on Sunday. Wendlands Feed has graciously donated our door prizes again this year.
Vendor space is still available for a nominal fee. If interested please call 713-946-3908. We’ll take you the day of the show. Additional information for the Equine Classic can be found on the rodeo website, www.pasadenarodeo.com or call 281-487-0240.
For those that would like to stick around and kick up their heels to some really good dancing music after the horse show, the PLS&R Wrap Up dance featuring the Randy Marshall Band is Saturday night at 8 p.m. in Campbell Hall. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
This week-end’s events will conclude this year’s Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo and we greatly appreciate you’re your continued support!
